Dean’s List Influenster Vox Box

I finally got my Dean’s List vox box complimentary from Influenster and am so excited to report on the good, the bad, and the ugly of the products in it! Let’s get to it!

Airheads Bites

These were alright. They taste JUST like regular airheads but they are round and bite-sized now. The only complaint with these is that since they are smashed basically into a ball, they are a lot harder than I would expect. Beware of your teeth!

Pilot FriXion Clicker

I love how smooth this pen writes and it erases so well. I remember using erasable pens in middle school years ago and being upset about how they never work. These actually work! The only concern that I have for this product is that you open the pen by clicking on the side part that hangs down from the top, where you would normally attach the pen to something like a shirt pocket. I ALWAYS break that part off on mechanical pens. If they are as flimsy as these pencils, I’m not sure how this pen would still work since it is critical if you want to actually be able to write. Other than that minor issue, great product!

Softlips Lip Balm

I absolutely LOVE it, especially the smell. I can feel it working as soon as I put it on and it moisturizes amazingly. I also love the packaging of the product, I’ve used the SoftLips products before and they were always so small and got lost so easily. This will be much easier to find.

SinfulColors No Text Red Nail Polish

I mean it’s just red nail polish and works like nail polish. The idea is that you paint JUST your thumbs red so you remember not to text and drive. I don’t think I will do that, but I will wear it on all of my nails at once.

KISS Looks So Natural Lashes

Haven’t actually tried it since I haven’t had an occasion to wear fake lashes and don’t want to waste them. But I’m excited to use it!

Covergirl Ready, Set Gorgeous Liquid Foundation

This product blended into my skin well and didn’t look too oily. It made my face look really good! I don’t wear makeup often but I did like this product.

Playtex Sport Fresh Balance

I have received this product from Influenster before so I could already comment about my prior experience with them I love Playtex products, especially the Sport ones for my active lifestyle. However, I am NOT about the scented tampon life. Yeah, it might be nice not to smell like week-old blood “down there” but, really, who is smelling down there during that time of the month anyway? To me, scented tampons scream infection. I am not about to put something that smells inside of my body. If you want to smell like fresh laundry and flowers, go ahead. But don’t say I didn’t warn you about the risk for UTI and yeast infections!

Pilot Pen Fashion Faux Pas

As part of the Dean’s List Vox Box that I received complimentary from Influenster, I need to write a fashion faux pas that I wish to erase using the Frixion ball Clicker Pilot Pen. Here ya go!

GONE (Well, almost, wanted to prove it was the same picture still!)

Influenster Go Vox Box

I received my “GO” Vox Box this month and the following serves as my review of the products:

PROFOOT Triad Orthotic, $10.49

These are actually perfect for me. I just started using arch supports in my shoes due to some ankle/knee problems and these orthotics were so comfortable. Definitely recommend. There are 3 zones of comfort with them: cradles balls of feet, supports arches, and cushions heels. It is also only 3/4 length so your toes are “free” and it feels great!

PROFOOT Pedi-Rock, $8.99

I just tried this rock for the first time tonight. I’ve never used anything like it, besides when I get pedicures. I wasn’t expecting much. Even when I was using it, I didn’t think it would work because it left a ton of black specks all over my feet. However, after I got it all washed off, my feet are SO SOFT. Love it. There was also some sort of foamy wash in the pedi-rock when I got it wet. I don’t know if that was supposed to be there or not, but my feet are still super soft so I’ll go with it.

Playtex Sport Fresh Balance, $3.99-$4.99

Ok, so I didn’t actually use these. Something about a scented tampon just screams infection to me so I didn’t give it a chance because that is not worth the risk for me.They are designed to neutralize odors for ultimate freshness and are a 360 degree design. If this sounds like your cup of tea, go for them! I’m sure they’re great, I just couldn’t bring myself to try it.

Blue Diamond Fruit Flavored Almonds, $3.19 for a 4oz bag

These weren’t horrible, but they also weren’t very good. They were coated with a powdery fake blueberry flavor. At first bite they were ok, but the aftertaste was gross for me. The almonds themselves were delicious though. I ended up just eating them without getting my tastebuds involved and they were great that way. I’m also not a big fan of the artificial blueberry flavoring though, so that may have played a role in my distaste.

Aqua Spa Relax Bath Soak, $9.99

Mmmmmm bubble bath.So relaxing and makes your skin feel so soft after a long work week. Also smells great!

Muller Greek Corner yogurts, $1.29

I don’t really like yogurt, like at all, so my review is not going to be the best advice. I got the strawberry Greek corner yogurt and it just wasn’t my favorite. Don’t take my word for it though. It was cool though! It had a little corner where the fruit was and the idea is to take the fruit and mix it up with the rest of the yogurt. I like the idea, just didn’t really like the product.

Overall, these were such great products. I’m so thankful for Influenster!

(Note: I received all of these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes)

Influenster Jolly Vox Box

I just received my complimentary December Jolly VoxBox from Influenster so I am just going to take a moment and review a few of the wonderful products on this blog posts (instead of individually like I usually do). So I’m sorry in advance for the long post.

Jolly VoxBox from Influenster

1) NYC HD Color Trio, $2.99: I received this eye shadow from Influenster in the “Long Beach Sands” color.  It comes with three different shades of brown and lists how to use each shade: Highlighter, All over lid, and crease; and includes a brush as well. The shadow is very easy to apply.  I never wear eye shadow, though, so some of the descriptions were a little new to me. For example, i dont know what a highlighter is for an eye shadow and how to use it but with a simple Google search, it all made sense.  Another aspect of this is that it is brown eye shadow. I have brown hair and brown eyes so i typically don’t think I would wear brown shadow because it would look weird on me but I guess it is better for the “natural” look. I would recommend this though! Eye shadow is eye shadow.

2) Puffs Plus Lotion To-Go Packs, $0.49/single pack: This is just your ordinary tissues to use on the go.  They are compact so they easily fit into a small purse and have lotion so they are easy on the nose. Also definitely recommend.

3) Skinny Cow “Devine filled Chocolates candy” in Peanut Butter Cream, $3.99/box: Overall, these are pretty good and very filling. However, it was kinda salty and I don’t really like salty things.  The outside was chocolate and the inside was filled with peanut butter.  I would recommend this but just be aware of the salt flavor that is associated with it.

Skinny Cow Candy: $3.99/box, $1.09/single bar or pouch

4) Rimmel London NEW Show Off Lip Lacquer; $5.49-$5.99: I received this lip “lacquer” in the 500 Luna shade. The lip gloss is not sticky, which is always a plus, and is also long-lasting. The only con that I can see with this is the smell, but all lip glosses have a weird smell, and also the shade I was sent is very wrong for my skin tone, almost like a costume-y shade. It’s like a bright orange almost, I posted a photo below, though it’s hard to really tell. I’d only recommend this color if you are going for a Halloween look or if there are other, better colors- I have not researched the other colors they carry.

A little orange, no?

NYC New York Color Big Bold Gloss

I received the product, NYC New York Color Big Bold Gloss, complimentary from Influenster for testing and reviewing purposes. I will start off by saying I LOVE the color. It looks great and matches my skin well.  The lip gloss is advertised as plumping and it does a pretty good job with this. I will say, though, that I have used better plumping glosses but this still worked great and fit well with my wardrobe. I only needed to put a little on and it lasted for hours! Love it. Definitely recommend it.I wish I could tell you the color I have but I can’t find it on the product :/Snapshot_20131115

Slim-Fast Strawberries ’N’ Cream Shake

This is the latest product that i received courtesy of the Influenster vox box program. The directions said that I needed to mix the shake with other ingrediants in order to make it taste better. I can honestly say, I was not too thrilled that these ingrediants were not included because I am a poor college student who doesn’t have money to go out and buy a whole lot of ingredients to use just once. I did go out and get them though, much to my dismay.

The shake itself said that it is not recommended to drink it on its own and needs to be mixed with something.  Since I didn’t want to spend money on rum, I made the Sassy Strawberry Colada Mocktail.  This calls for the shake to be blended with fresh pineapple, whole strawberries, coconut extract, and ice cubes.  I did not put in a whole lot of coconut since I am not a fan of the taste.  When it was all blended, I served some just to me and my boyfriend, I didn’t want to throw a whole party just to try this shake haha. Overall, the drink was a little bland for our liking, maybe if we had put in the coconut it would have tasted better but, again, no likey coconut.  I am really not a huge fruit drink fan either so that also played a role in me not really enjoying the drink.  I wish I would have gotten the cappucino delight or chocolate flavor, I definitely would have enjoyed those a lot more.

Overall, the drink was just meh.  Nothing too special. Given, it is a drink to help you lose weight and control appetite. I did not try enough of it to see if it actually did control appetite and obviously I couldn’t test whether it helped me lose weight since I only had one.

Overall, if you like fruity drinks, go for this one. It’s healthy and very fruity.  It also comes with a variety of recipes to mix with the shake, since it is not recommended to drink the shake alone. It personally wasn’t my favorite, but that’s just because I don’t like fruity flavors. You should definitely try it!

Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+

This is the last complimentary Influenster Spring Vox Box item that I received and am going to review. I was sent the “Dust It” product which is basically just a volume and texture product.  When I first looked at the product, I did not know what the heck I was supposed to do with it.  I finally found two instructions written in very tiny font on the clear, plastic cover.  This should definitely be changed because many people, like myself, do not want to have to look up on the internet how to use this product.  For those who are looking up this product, basically you just sprinkle the white powder onto your DRY hairline and massage it into your scalp, easy enough. And the white powder becomes invisible once it’s rubbed in. I have dark hair and I can’t see the product anymore, which is good. Once I decided to just try this product, I wasn’t really all that impressed.  The product feels… I don’t even know how to describe it. It feels dirty I guess. And it did not really do anything to my flat hair.  My other products work much better at a cheaper price.  What it did do is make my hair look messy, like it was teased without me even having teased it. This would be cool if I had actually wanted that teased look but I don’t (that’s so 80s); I just want volume.  Try this product if you want, but I won’t be using it again.

You can get it for the expensive price of $23.50 at salons across America and Ulta.comImage

Secret Outlast Clear Gel

This was another product that I received from complimentary from the Spring Vox Box from Influenster. I was skeptical when I began using this because most gel deodorant does not work for me, I tend to sweat a lot. Because I tend to have wetness, I recently switched to the Dove Clinical deodorant which has helped a lot so I was also timid to try this regular Secret Deodorant again. I was pleasantly surprised with this though! I have been wearing it for 3 days now and I have yet to experience the same wetness that I used to and have not had any odor, although that is not a problem I really ever have. I do not think it has left white marks, though I have not checked. But I guess that since I haven’t noticed, that must be a good sign!

You can buy this product for approximately $4.59 at food, drug and mass retailer stores nationwide. For more reviews check out:

Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure

I got this item in the “Over the Moon” color as a complimentary sample from the Influenster Vox Box a few weeks ago for reviewing purposes.   They directions were pretty straight forward and they were extremely easy to put on and looked really good and very real, which surprised me.  However, as the days wore on, I noticed that the nails began to unstick from my actual nail, beginning the day after I put them on.  I continuously got food (and hair while I washed my hair) stuck between the real and fake nails and it was near impossible to get the food out.  Also, the nails began to fall off on the 6th day, which is still really close to the 7 day guarantee.  Finally, when I took the rest of the nails off after the first one came off, it took away a small layer of my actual nail which wasn’t so pretty.   This was my first time ever using fake nails though so I may have just put them on wrong. But I still really enjoyed wearing it and got TONS of compliments on my nails. Most had no idea they were pressed on and were surprised that the nails hadn’t fallen off as soon as I put them on. I would definitely recommend this item in a heart beat.

Take a look at the Broadway Nails website here:

These press-on nails have been seen for the price of $5.99 for colors $7.99 for patterns at CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, KMart, Walgreens, Walmart, and more.Image

Tastykake® Kandy Bar Kakes

I got this complimentary Reese’s sample from Influenster in order to try and test the product and then write a review.  Overall, the product is pretty good.  It had just the right amount of peanut butter and chocolate in it and it was kind of like a cake but also like a candy bar, if that makes sense. I think that was the goal of the product though– I’m not actually sure if it’s considered candy or cake to be honest.  The only problem I really saw with it is that it was VERY crummy.  That could of course be because it went through the whole shipping process and probably bumped around quite a bit. Or that could just be how it’s made.  Regardless, because ti was so crummy, it was very hard to eat without making a mess. The crumbs got everywhere and the chocolate started to melt very quickly after I opened it (in my air conditioned house).  So cleaning it up was no fun.  I still enjoyed this product but I probably wouldn’t buy it again.  I feel like I’ve had other stuff similar to this for probably less calories and it was just too messy to waste a whole meal on this sweet.

Don’t take this the wrong way though, it was very good, just not my personal favorite.  If you want to try it, you can get it as a single serving for $1.69 or in a family pack for $4.49– kind of expensive, I’d say.  ImageImage
